On Friday afternoon our beloved Timber passed away.
You may recall her having some issues while we were away in September. She was fairing well after all that and was doing good. However, Thursday things went for a bit of a nose dive. By 3 am Friday she could not stand and was having seizures. We actually thought at that point it was maybe just a medication issue as the vet had lowered her dose just a few weeks prior.
We took her into the vet Friday morning. They gave her a good dose of Valium as soon as we got her there to calm her and stop her body from working so hard. The plan was to keep her over night and to get fluids into her and see how she came out of all that. Unfortunately a few hours after we left, her heart rate went right down and that was it. They did try to revive her but were unsuccessful.
Poor old girl.
Her blood test did show she was very anemic and had low platelets. Probably, the vet said, there was something else going on beside the epilepsy.
The house is a little too quite now.
I find comfort in the fact she was peaceful when she passed due to the Valium. Her last food was Christmas cookies that I gave her Thursday night when she was curled up on a blanket not feeling so good. She was eleven years old and never had any health issues. She was a rescue dog and she had a fantastic life with a lot of love.
She was by far, the best dog ever.
